JEWELLERY TASTER SESSIONS

  • Saturday 15th July 2017 (Morning 10am – 1pm OR Afternoon 2pm – 5pm)

This session covers basic jewellery making skills, currently held in the creative Northern Quarter. Participants will each be taught a variety of different jewellery making skills (hammering, texturing, doming, shaping, soldering and finishing) First practicing in copper and later Silver, participants will have completed a piece of wearable silver jewellery (earrings, pendant or pin) by the end of the session.

Price £35, morning and afternoon sessions available.


MAKE A RING IN A DAY

  • Saturday 5th August 2017 (10am until approximately 4.30pm)

The course covers a multitude of skills; shaping, hammering, texturing and silver soldering. We will also teach students how to saw, file, size rings and finish silver work. We will begin using copper, with demonstrations given for the different skills, followed by time to practice. Once the skills are refined, each person attending will make a sterling silver ring from start to finish which will be theirs to take away!

Price £75 – full day from 10am, including all materials. 


MAKE A BANGLE IN A DAY

  • Saturday 22nd July 2017 (10am until approximately 5pm)

This course covers a multitude of skills; shaping, hammering, texturing and silver soldering. We will also teach students how to saw, file, size bangles and finish silver work. Practice will begin using copper, with demonstrations given for the different skills, followed by time to practice. Once the skills are refined, each person will make a sterling silver bangle or stacking bangles from start to finish, which is theirs to take away!

Price £95 – full day from 10am including all materials

MATCHING EARRINGS AND NECKLACE SET

  • Saturday 30th of September 2017 (10am until approximately 5pm)

The new class covers a multitude of skills; shaping, hammering, stamping, texturing and silver soldering. We will also teach students how to measure, cut and put together chains of different lengths, and demonstrate how to shape and strengthen different styles of earring hooks. Practice will begin using copper, with demonstrations given for the different skills, followed by time to practice and apply these skills. Once the skills are refined, you will design and make a set of sterling silver earrings & necklace to take away with you. The price of the class includes materials to make one set, more can be purchased if required (time allowing).

Price £75 – full day from 10am including all materials


GEMMOLOGY with Nineteen48

This one-day course will give you a solid overview of many of the key topics relating to gems and gemmology, from the scientific aspects of the subject to the practical side of gem properties and identification. You will learn to use some of the main gemmologist’s tools and have a chance to examine a wide range of gemstones.

This course is suitable for complete beginners to the subject and will also interest those with some previous knowledge, such as jewellery makers who want to learn more about the materials they use. Students need only bring their energy and enthusiasm, plus something for making notes. Everything else will be provided.

Price £100, 6 hour session including reference book to take home

RESIN TASTER SESSION

A fun two hour session which gives an introduction to using resin in costume jewellery. You can have a go at colouring resin and embedding objects into both moulds and ready made bezels (such as brooches and pendants) and also have the option to take home findings to make your resin pieces into magnets, keyrings, or anything you can think of!

Price £25, afternoon session 2 – 4pm.

KEUM BOO with Karin Sheldon

  • No dates currently available for this class

Keum Boo literally translates as “attached gold” and this course will teach you the ancient Japanese art of fusing 24ct gold onto fine silver jewellery. You will learn how to prepare and apply the gold and how to finish a piece of jewellery. All students will be provided with a starter pack of fine silver and gold to use during the session.

Price £95 – full day course, times tbc, all materials included.
