JEWELLERY TASTER SESSIONS

  • Saturday 19th November (morning 10am – 1pm)
  • Saturday 10th December (morning 10am – 1pm)

This session covers basic jewellery making skills, currently held in the creative Northern Quarter. Participants will each be taught a variety of different jewellery making skills (hammering, texturing, doming, shaping, soldering and finishing) First practicing in copper and later Silver, participants will have completed a piece of wearable silver jewellery (earrings, pendant or pin) by the end of the session.

Price £35, morning and afternoon sessions available.


MAKE A RING IN A DAY

  • Saturday 26th November 2016 (10am until approximately 4.30pm)

The course covers a multitude of skills; shaping, hammering, texturing and silver soldering. We will also teach students how to saw, file, size rings and finish silver work. We will begin using copper, with demonstrations given for the different skills, followed by time to practice. Once the skills are refined, each person attending will make a sterling silver ring from start to finish which will be theirs to take away!

Price £75 – full day from 10am – 4pm, including all materials. 


RESIN TASTER SESSION

  • Saturday 10th December (2pm – 4pm)

A fun two hour session which gives an introduction to using resin in costume jewellery. You can have a go at colouring resin and embedding objects into both moulds and ready made bezels (such as brooches and pendants) and also have the option to take home findings to make your resin pieces into magnets, keyrings, or anything you can think of!

Price £25, afternoon session 2 – 4pm.

**Offer** Book both Taster and Resin workshops for £55!! You can spend the afternoon adding colour to your handmade silver pieces you made in the morning!


GEMMOLOGY with Nineteen48

This one-day course will give you a solid overview of many of the key topics relating to gems and gemmology, from the scientific aspects of the subject to the practical side of gem properties and identification. You will learn to use some of the main gemmologist’s tools and have a chance to examine a wide range of gemstones.

This course is suitable for complete beginners to the subject and will also interest those with some previous knowledge, such as jewellery makers who want to learn more about the materials they use. Students need only bring their energy and enthusiasm, plus something for making notes. Everything else will be provided.

Price £100, 6 hour session including reference book to take home

MAKE A BANGLE IN A DAY

Practice will begin using copper, with demonstrations given for the different skills, followed by time to practice. Once the skills are refined, each person will make a sterling silver bangle or stacking bangles from start to finish, which is theirs to take away!

KEUM BOO with Karin Sheldon

Keum Boo literally translates as “attached gold” and this course will teach you the ancient Japanese art of fusing 24ct gold onto fine silver jewellery. You will learn how to prepare and apply the gold and how to finish a piece of jewellery. All students will be provided with a starter pack of fine silver and gold to use during the session.

Price £95 – full day course, times tbc, all materials included.
